Scan receipts with the Spesenfuchs app

With the Spesenfuchs app, you can capture receipts directly with your smartphone and automatically upload them to your receipt inbox in the Spesenfuchs web application.

Requirements

To use the app, log in with your Spesenfuchs account. If you don’t have an account yet, you can register at https://app.spesenfuchs.de.

Scan a receipt

  • After logging in, the app automatically opens the camera
  • If you previously used another function, tap the “Scan” button (camera icon) at the bottom to reopen the camera
  • Point the camera at the receipt
  • Position the document so it is fully visible within the camera frame
  • The scan is created automatically or can be triggered manually

Scan features

During scanning, the following functions are available:

  • Flash: For better lighting in dark environments
  • Filter: Improves the readability of the receipt
  • Shutter: Manually trigger the photo

Receipt inbox

After scanning, the receipt is automatically transferred to your personal receipt inbox. There you will see:

  • Preview of the receipt
  • Amount
  • Date
  • Receipt type (e.g. “Hotel”)

You can tap on a receipt at any time to view it in full size or delete it.

Automatic recognition

The app automatically detects important receipt data, such as:

  • Invoice amount
  • Receipt date
  • Merchant

The quality of recognition depends on the readability of the receipt.

Tips for good scans

For best results:

  • Make sure the receipt is fully visible in the image
  • Use sufficient lighting
  • Avoid shadows and reflections
  • Place the receipt on a high-contrast background

Settings

In the settings you can:

  • Select the design (Light/Dark/System)
  • Open the help center
  • The language is based on the language selected in the Spesenfuchs web application.

  • Why is my receipt blurry or not recognized?
    Check lighting conditions and the position of the receipt.
  • Where can I find my scanned receipts?
    In the receipt inbox directly in the app or in the Spesenfuchs web application under Expenses -> Receipt inbox
  • Do I need to be online?
    An internet connection is required for the upload.
